📌 Indications:
Ruxotor (Ruxolitinib) is indicated for the treatment of:
-
Myelofibrosis (MF): including primary myelofibrosis, post–polycythemia vera MF, and post–essential thrombocythemia MF.
-
Polycythemia Vera (PV): in patients resistant or intolerant to hydroxyurea.
-
Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD): in steroid-refractory acute and chronic GVHD.
đź’Š Pharmacology:
-
Ruxolitinib is a Janus-associated kinase (JAK1 and JAK2) inhibitor.
-
It works by reducing overactive JAK-STAT signaling, which is involved in abnormal blood cell production, inflammation, and immune system dysregulation.
-
By inhibiting JAK1/JAK2, Ruxotor decreases splenomegaly, alleviates disease-related symptoms (fever, night sweats, weight loss), and improves quality of life in MF and PV patients.
đź’‰ Dosage & Administration:
-
Typical starting dose (MF/PV): 5–20 mg orally twice daily, based on platelet count.
-
GVHD: 5–10 mg twice daily (dose adjustments may be needed).
-
Doses should be individualized according to platelet counts, hemoglobin levels, and neutrophil counts.
-
Tablets should be swallowed whole, with or without food.
